Responsibilities:

The Town of Verona has 97 miles of Town roads which makes us the largest town in Oneida County. We also plow and sand 33 miles of county roads.


The Highway Department consists of the Highway Superintendent and nine full time employees. The department maintains the town roads. In the winter season the department provides 24 hours a day coverage for plowing the town and county roads. State roads are plowed by the Oneida County. In the summer season the workers inspect and maintain all town roads and bridges, repair culverts, remove brush, mow road shoulders, and sweep sand from roads. They also assist with repairs and improvements in some of the cemetaries and other municipal facilities.

 

Winter Working hours are Monday – Friday 7:00 Am - 3:00 PM. As a reminder for the SAFTEY OF THE TOWN RESIDENTS AND FOR YOUR VEHICLES THERE IS NO PARKING ON ROADS FROM December 1st to April 1st 2 Am to 8am.


Plowing, Shoveling or blowing snow into streets is unsafe and AGAINST THE LAW.


SPRING - Clean-up day is in May.


SUMMER Road resurfacing done, culverts replaced, shoulder work and mowing done.


FALL - Clean-up day is scheduled in September. See the Calendar for posting of dates.
